Chemical properties: Colorless to pale yellow to brown liquid or low melting point crystalline solid, with a phenolic aromatic odor, hygroscopic, sensitive to air and light. Long term storage or gradual darkening under sunlight. Dissolved in harsh alkaline solution, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, chloroform, etc., slightly soluble in water.
